Some Changes.

 I have been pretty absent from this & will continue to be for a week or so. I have made some big changes in my life & feel that maybe this here should have some changes as well!

{engagement pictures}

Last Sunday, Michael & I had our engagement session with the very lovely Julie of Julie Roberts Photography.  We decided that we wanted to have our pictures taken somewhere we were both very familiar with and loved, so it was an easy choice picking our apartment. This place is very important to the both of us for a few reasons. The first is that this apartment is really our first place together. We lived together for two years prior to moving into this space, but we shared it with his brother (and soon to be mine!), so I don't feel that it was really Michael & I's first place. The second reason that we chose to do them at our house is because Michael actually designed it. His bosses own the building we live in and wanted to renovate the apartment but didn't have the time to. What ended up happening was they told Michael that if he worked on the project that we could also move into it. It was a small taste of being able to choose how the space you live in will look like in the end.
We also ended up doing pictures in our neighborhood as well. There are a lot of really neat spaces around us and Julie seemed to really be inspired by the buildings. For a slide show of the pictures just go here.

Some of you might be confused and be thinking that you already saw our engagement photos, and you did. We actually had two sets done! One by Julie recently, and in the weeks following our engagement in October, my Dad took some as well (which can be seen here). We loved the ones that he took for us, and actually used them as insperation for our save the dates (seen below). But, we needed to hire someone to shoot our wedding, and when we met with Julie we knew that we wanted to do some photos with her as well. We just got to have twice the fun!

{a week of posts, part 1}

Art Ed interns (Alison, Alissa, me, and Lucy)
The light at the end of the tunnel is getting so much brighter! This past Thursday I participated in the hooding ceremony at UT, and it was just one more step closer to ending my 7 years in higher education. Even though I still have two more grad classes to finish in June, it felt like a huge weight was lifted when I was able to walk across the stage wearing my hood, cap and gown. (I should state that I was almost unable to participate due to my cap dissapearing on the way to campus, but luckily a friend had an extra and I wore Michael's tassle.) This August I will be receiving my diploma and my teacher's license! I did however receive this beautiful bracelet from my Dad and Step mom. It's a David Yurman, just like my engagement ring!
Michael's family, my Mom, and Kisha all came up for the festivities. It was a lot of fun to hangout with family and friends and enjoy not having to do any homework! I was also able to go shopping with my Mom and Kisha for necessary items that I'll share in a post tomorrow. Speaking of posts, I promise I will be updating more regularly now that the semester is over and things are winding down at the elementary school I'm interning at. I have a lot to share this week especially (hence the part 1 in the title)!

{update}

Dear anyone that reads this,

I realize that I have not been very consistent in updating this lately, and for good reason. I am finishing up my {last} spring semester of grad school, finishing up my last month of teaching kindergarten and first grade art at Lonsdale Elementary, planning my wedding that is in two months, and trying to be a good friend, fiance, and momma to two fur babies. My last day of classes was on Tuesday but I still have some things to finish up this next week. After that I will not have to worry about grad school until June, but I still will be teaching until May 26th. I hope that after this week I will be more willing to get on here and update anyone that is interested with things going on in my life. I promise to update on Sunday with a better update, so until then... have a great weekend!!!

{Monday Recap}

I'm taking a break from writing my Action Research Paper & thought I'd post the finished products from one of my classes.

With my kinders last week, we read Dinosar in Trouble.

We then worked together to draw a dinosaur sleeping & colored him in orange. We then looked at orange's opposite color, blue, and drew some trees with our blue crayons. We then did a resist painting using watered down blue tempera paint, and the results were great! Check out one class's hard work under the jump! They just finished them today. I leave you with one.
